As already said, if you are looking for Mexican food, you wont find it here. The food is a simplified interpretation of Mexican. Having said that, the food is ok, a little bland. A good selection of cocktails. Prices are a little steep considering the simple nature of the dishes. Staff are efficient but not the warmest most welcoming individuals. A place to consider more for the drinks than the food.
Nice and cozy texmex in Kiev. Food, cocktails, beer, hookah are all fine
Nice place for lunch. Wings as starter were delicious
Great cocktails, but the food wasn't as impressive. Still great though, would recommend
Great place. Prices are not so high. Great waiters. Everything was nice and fresh.Come here for space and good music.
Excellent food, good service, reasonably priced
Good food, good service and nice atmosphere! Glad it's in the neighborhood!
The best cocktails in Kiev. And so nice, stylish, surprising mood. Perfect for having drinks in atmospheric mood.
I like it. The price is a bit overpriced as for Kiev, but mostly this institution has pleased.
Nice mexican food and they have fine lounge zone for hookah and meeting with friends
Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been
Good not great food and the atmosphere is perfect. I am a terrible person for a Mexican restaurant review in Ukraine. I have yet to eat anything like the Mexican food I have had in the U.S. or Mexico. Ukrainians may not be able to handle or enjoy spicy food, so the food tends to be a bit bland. Rojo Ojo is no exception but is the best I have had so far.
I was pretty disappointed by the quality of the food. The restaurant itself has a tasteful interior, but next to no light besides window light. The tacos were pretty bad in my opinion, and the guacamole they offered tasted like mud. The fillings of the taco were meager and clearly inadequately put together. I've had simple but delicious authentic tacos, but the simplicity of the taco was quite underwhelming. The thought I had throughout the meal was that it would be a much more satisfying meal if I had gone to the store and put the ingredients together myself. My companion ordered rib eye steak, and despite being regular steak price, it was not remotely enjoyable. My tacos were better than his meal. The waiters are next to nowhere to be seen and called for.
Tasty and spicy :) good quality beer and drinks. Staff seemed to be not really friendly and this is the only negative thing about this place, but the most important and meaningful. In the middle of accepting our order, the waiter rapidly left us without any explanations to deliver a meal to another table and then came back. O_o . Afterwards, she delivered a meal that we hadn't ordered instead of what we indeed had ordered. Instead of just saying sorry, I did a mistake and I will now bring what you need, she just got gone.
Very interesting place, tasty and cheap related to other restourant. For example after this restourant I was in different one where price was same, but quality less.
There is no real Mexican food in Kiev with the exception of the one week a year the Intercontinental flies in a chef from Mexico City - so let's just get that out there. That having been said Rojo Ojo is decent. Outdoor seating is very nice, good cocktail list, attentive service. Not Mexican though. If you order a vegetable burrito there will be no rice, beans, corns, cilantro, hot pepper - or in other words the things that would make it Mexican. You basically get a vegetable wrap with mushrooms and a lemon on the side instead of a lime. There are simple fajitas and quesadillas available. Basically, flour (not corn) tortilla with cheese and a protein. If you've had real Mexican food before, you'll probably be disappointed. If not, then no worries.
This doesn't even compare to chipotle
Amazing place.
Everything was spotless, great service, polite servers, stylish plates and etc.And yet, we ordered 3 dishes and all of them were just beyond BLAND.Think of Mexico, all the flavors, spices, exotic foods... and yet we were served watery guacamole, not seasoned sour cream, and food that wasn't even salted! Literally, no flavor in all three dishes we ordered.Would give it a zero, because our day was ruined. You expect expensive Mexican restaurant to deliver an authentic experience.Классное заведение, но еда абсолютно никакая. Даже не посолено, и мясо очень резиновое, соусы разбавлены. Жаль
Good food, good service. Not a cheap place
Plain, boring food without any authenticity, although ingredients are of high quality. Slow staff.
Ambience is great, delicious food, excellent service
Terrible service, decent food
Not authentic at all, but a pretty good take on Mexican food. Ukrainian and English menus. The price point seems a bit high for Mexican food, but then again, I guess it's exotic in Ukraine. Great decor and friendly English speaking staff.
Nice cocktails
Great variety and quality of food!
First of all every Mexican restaurant serves their own corn chips and salsa sauce while you waiting for food before you even order anything. That's an authentic Mexican style in Mexico and USThis restaurant does not unless you order it. Dish was pricey for the portion size. More expensive than I pay in authentic Mexican restaurants in USA.Food is good and delicious but as mentioned before small portions.Waiter who only came to my table once delivering food asked me straight forward: "How Would you Like to Tip me with a card or cash"?And when I asked him excuse me? He repeated the question in English. I always tip but this time I didn't because that was just rude and very unprofessional.
Great food and service.
Good service, interesting cocktail, live music
Expensive place with specific food.
Nice place with tasty food
Food is so bad:-(
The best Mexican restaurant in the city. Perfect hooka and great service
Great place, tasty food =)
Always good.
Decent cuisine, liked the bloody mary. Has hookahs
The restaurant of nonmaxican food. The sign says 'hot like Mexico'. Absolute lies. Mexican food originally is hot. But in rojo ojo you need to ask for that to be hot. And they'll charge for that additionally. Ukrainians recommend the place for some reason, probably cause have no idea about mexican food and freaking jalapenos. People who do appreciate Mexican, don't waste your time and money. Staff is very professional. We complained a lot and they stayed polite which is not very common for Ukraine.
Very like this restaurant! First time I were with my family and all of us enjoined cuisine. Atmosphere is very good with chilly peppers on the table (it's mean that table is reserved). Nice and polite staff. Reasonable prices. I definitely recommend this place!
Great food and drinks
Maybe the best restaurant you can find in this district. Super-tasty mexican food, nice and fast service. I can recommend spicy cocktail, it's really good. Also hookah is great, there is big choice of tobacco, price is reasonable. It's not cheap place, but it worth its price.
Tasty Mexican food
Too pricey and fancy place. Food is just ok, nothing special but overpriced, portions aren't big. We wish food could be more spicy - more lime, chili. Also, when we ordered a fajitas plate, we were served with 6 tortillas, though there were 4 people at the table..come on, it's ridiculous, the waiter could have told us there are 6 pieces per portion and we need to order more. Of course, for the additional ones you have to pay (btw, tortillas are made of wheat flour, not corn). It's not a big deal indeed, but small details like that and some other things (e.g. waiters attitude, who just throws your credit card and checks on the table, then turns around and leaves, canned corn from the supermarket as part of the nachos bowl..lol) made a negative general impression of this restaurant for us. Though we liked desserts - they mix unusual tastes and do it well. But in general we were disappointed.
